Movies have the unique ability to inspire conversation, ignite imagination, and shift perspectives – film is universal. At Heartland Film, we love partnering with community organizations, businesses, and schools to showcase films that do more than entertain. We offer year-round opportunities to engage with new and beloved films through field trips, organizational screenings, and community events. Our festivals and events offer ways to take part in our thriving arts community.
If you'd like to learn more about how you can partner with us on an event, screening or field trip, email our Community Outreach and Education Manager, Abi Lindstedt, at alindstedt@heartlandfilm.org.
Educational Opportunities
Career Pathways
Bring your students to the Heartland Film Headquarters to learn about careers in the Programming, Operations, and Marketing Department through interactive activities.
High School Film Competition (HSFC)
Learn about the HSFC by watching a selection of short films and hearing from the film programming team. Inspire your students to create their own film to submit – free submissions for high school students!
Heartland International Film Festival (HIFF) Screenings
Give your students the festival experience by coming to one of our festival locations during the day to watch a feature film, take photos on the red carpet, and have a filmmaker Q&A. This can be focused on a particular subject or language.
Classroom Visits
View Heartland Film as a resource in the classroom. We are happy to speak with teachers, departments, and students to discuss the world of movies and film festivals, what local non-profits/ arts organizations do, screen a film in conjunction with curriculum, and more.
Year-Round Field Trips
Join Heartland Film throughout the year for film screening field trips. Customize your experience with a film that works for your class topic or school mission. Student tickets are tiered based on school need and teachers/chaperones are always free.
Film Curriculum
With new grant-funding, Heartland Film is developing curriculum inspired by past festival films. From one day to one week lesson plans, we will have multiple options available for free. Please email Abi Lindstedt at alindstedt@heartlandfilm.org for more information.
Organizational Opportunities
Partner Events
Heartland Film is always looking for new organizations to partner with on events like Family Fun Day and Mimosa Mixer. The breadth of content in the films we program each year gives organizations chances to partner on individual screenings and share information about what they offer to the community.
Private Screening
Host a private screening for your clients or staff during the Indy Shorts or Heartland International Film Festival. We can work with you to select a film, organize a reception, and invite filmmakers to connect with your attendees.
Event Space Networking
Heartland Film's new headquarters allows us the space to open our doors to organizations like Coffee with the Chamber.
