Overview

The 28th Annual Heartland International Film Festival took place October 10-20, 2019, and featured 200+ films and 300+ screenings at the AMC Castleton Square Theater, Newfields, AMC Showplace Traders Point, and The Historic Artcraft Theatre.

Heartland Film honored Michael Apted and Cloris Leachman with the

Lifetime Achievement Award. Brendan Fraser attended the festival for a

special 20th Anniversary screening of “The Mummy” followed by a Brendan Fraser retrospective film screening series of “The Quiet American” and “Gods

and Monsters.”

This year’s theme was A Bold Cinematic Space to reiterate the importance of taking yourself out of your world in order to learn and grow with new stories, cultures, and experiences through film.

Heartland Film also hosted Cultural Journey Germany in the spring and the

2nd Annual Indy Shorts International Film Festival in the summer of 2019.
